About T.O.R.C.

Welcome Old School Toyota Enthusiasts!

The Toyota Owner’s and Restorer’s Club, established in 1995, is an organization aimed at the enthusiast of all Toyota automobiles. While T.O.R.C welcomes owners, drivers, and enthusiasts of all Toyota brands, including Lexus & Scion, the primary directive of T.O.R.C. is to promote the preservation, restoration, modification & use of pre-1985 Toyota models. The club’s goal is to promote and encourage an appreciation of Toyota, it’s heritage, and it’s future. Whether you are interested in finding that hard-to-find Toyota part for your classic, have a technical question about a restoration modification project, or just want to browse the pages or see the pictures, we’re sure you’ll find something of interest.

TORC is an acronym for the Toyota Owner’s and Restorer’s Club. What does that mean? Well, that means we are a club that is all about Old School Toyotas. And just what is Old School? Other terms often associated with these care are: Vintage, Nostalgic, Classic or even Retro. — to us, these are all the same. What it all boils down to in our book, is anything up to and including 1985 models.

What is TORC?

TORC is an organization for enthusiasts of pre-1985 Toyota models. While TORC welcomes owners, drivers, and enthusiasts of all Toyota brands, including Lexus and Scion, the primary directive of TORC is to promote the preservation, restoration, modification & continued use of pre-1985 Toyota models. In this end, TORC will continue to promote and encourage an appreciation of Toyota, its heritage and its future.

Why was TORC started?

TORC was established in 1995 by Stuart Resor after he purchased an early Toyota Corona to restore with his daughter. While his daughter had other ideas, Stuart went on and founded the club in order to help other enthusiasts that were restoring old Toyotas. Back then, there was no interest in vintage Japanese automobiles. Since that time though, TORC has grown from a small local club out of San Diego, to a large nationwide organization.

How do I join TORC?

Currently, there is nothing to join, other than our Forum. Which is open to everyone.

What happened to the old TORC membership?

Unfortunately, due to a number of reasons, we had to discontinue actual membership. Instead, we have continually pushed to improve our website and forums, as this seems to be the greatest opportunity for growth. Our hopes are to one day bring back our membership, and with it the privileges that go along with being a subscribing member.

I dont own an old Toyota, can i still be part of TORC?

Certainly! As stated before, TORC is for all enthusiasts of Old School Toyota.

Why did you include Lexus and Scion at All Toyotafest?

This is a topic that has drawn us a lot of criticism over the years, but the main reason we did it was for the exposure. At the time, we felt we needed to include the newer Toyotas as well as Lexus and Scion in order to give our show a much needed push in marketing. It worked! It is important to differentiate that TORC and All Toyotafest are not one and the same. TORC is the organization dedicated to the preservation, restoration and modification of pre-1985 Toyotas, while All Toyotafest is a show, hosted by TORC for all models of Toyota, Lexus and Scion.

What’s my car worth?

We get that question a lot, and unfortunately… we cant answer it. If you need to know the value of your vehicle, there are a number of resources available online. As well as the TORC forums.

Summary

That sort of sums up what TORC is all about. Whether you are interested in finding a hard-to-find part for your classic Toyota, have a technical question about your restoration or modification, or just want to browse the pages for pictures of classic vehicles. We are sure you will find something of interest to you! Thanks for stopping by!
